Storytelling is a huge aspect of persuasive communication; your story makes you more relatable and encourages people to connect with you. Studies show when readers (or viewers of a video) hear a company’s history, they become emotionally invested and desire to see that company succeed. Storytelling is a simple, yet frequently overlooked, marketing technique.
Advertising is everywhere and your potential clients are constantly being bombarded with the latest products and services from one company or another. What makes a company stand out? Nobody likes to be sold to, but people will respond to a personal story. As a company, it is good to know your own story for it will allow you to better understand who you are, remind you where you came from, define your strengths and weaknesses, and where your character comes from. This is beneficial not only for your company but for your clients.
So how do you tell your story? Take some time to write down your company’s stories; funny or interesting things, your company’s origin, lives changed through your company – whether they are employees or customers – and find ways to inspire, encourage and connect to your customers by telling these stories. Social media such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Youtube, and Instagram make it easier than ever for you to get you stories out there! Now, blog them, video tape them – get them out so your target audience will see them!
